Exclamation Scammers & Hackers, Be Aware of them!!

Just a friendly heads-up for everyone.

So I recently had some people in game tell me that they got hacked because they clicked on links people sent them in game or on the message system on the EM.

Those links will probably lead to a keylogger (a fake version of this rohan site, when you enter you account details there you wont login but they will be sent directly per mail to the hacker/scammer). This way he can login your account and scam all your items/RP's.

ALWAYS check the link when you log in: http://rohan.playrohan.com/ so if its http://rohan.playrohan.tk/ (for example) that could be someone hosting a keylogging scam site.

NEVER click on links other people give you, especially not if they tell you you can get free items or free RP's for it. If people do so, screenshot it and send it to the GM''S in a ticket.

Nothing is free in this world guys and remember, if someone comes with an example that's ''too good to be true'', it probably is.

You didn't go and fall for a phishing site did you?

That is pretty basic knowledge for anything on the internet, not just Rohan. It ranks right up there with clicking on links in those phony spam mails you get from American Express or HSBC that ask you to log into your banking accounts.

Always, always, always look at the address you are about to click on by checking the status bar of your browser when you pass your mouse over it - never the text link they are showing you like this:

http://www.playrohan.com (this one's harmless but you get the point and savvy users won't be caught by it)

When in doubt go to the site they are getting you to visit by using or typing your your own known links. If it is legit, you will find information about the message there. If not you ben bet the sender of that message is phishing.

There is nothing noble about being superior to others. True nobility is gained by becoming superior to one's former self.

For those who don't know what the statusbar is:

For example in Mozilla Firefox you can see this in the left bottom corner (see picture). By hovering over Banana's link I can see it directs to "bringvictory.com" - which is not what I was looking for => avoid clicking!

No I did not, I play online games since I'm 13 or 14 yrs old. I smell a scammer from a mile away but I was lvling some alts today and I had already 2 people complain they got a link from someone and clicked it and after that they got hacked so I placed this message on the forum to warn others to not do the same.

I agree its basic knowlegde but still.....too many people fall for those assholes

GM's just made an announcement about hackers and those links in game, I guess there are indeed some casualties lol.

Just a couple. As BB said, this is a pretty ancient scam, and not many people fell for it. We're already giving our players free items in game via Daily Logins and the Lucky Number system; we're not going to be giving you free RP's as well ( At least not yet )! I recently perma-banned a couple of accounts that looked to be heavily involved in RMT, so they're probably trying to recoup some of their losses. We should have the scammed accounts back to normal in a bit, with any peripheral accounts tied to the primary scamming account ( Already banned ) being banned shortly.

Thank you gentlemen, for providing valuable knowledge to our player base who may not yet be familiar with these types of scams. I appreciate it!
