I could care less about P2W, but straight removing things, nerfing everything acrossed the board, and making it so dhans and dekans can't even level with other classes until mid 30's makes it pointless to play those 2.
At level 20 you don't need 20% defense - but there ARE parts with at least 2% each part, netting you 8% - which isn't bad. Besides, you can go with Armour Defense, as well. If that doesn't suit you - fill it up with vit parts or HP%. You can also opt for crit% reduction... there's plenty to choose from and it leaves you with way more options to suit your need, than you had in RBF.
It just needs you to adapt.

I see dekans doing tons of damage, compared to other classes - so I'm fairly sure dekan isn't an issue to level. Froianne/Zultan is fairly easy to forge/get. Especially since Froianne drops as loot and you can use that to combine a Zultan set. You don't need to be rich for that. Having Zultan x4 also gives you +10 all stats. Combine this with Origin title and you have +20 all stat. There are also other titles to get, which is +4 or +8 all stat for starters. Or you can choose the +vit stats instead.

Once you have done your armour, go for your weapon next. Don't always forge everything, sometimes it's cheaper to buy from people. Use the search function ingame and the consigment shop.
Once you are near lvl 40 and up, you should have enough badges to get your Sedorian set. You don't need it to be best stats either - it will be good enough at the time you can wear it. When leveling up, you can then look to trade/buy or convert insignia's for better Sedorian to survive the higher levels.
Don't waste all your crones forging crappy stuff. It's pointless and just a big waste.

It's up to you to read your skills, understand them - and use them to their best advantages. Similar as to reading armour stats, and get those that suit your needs at that moment. Nobody stops you from having multiple sets - depending on farming situation (heal % during parties, defense/hp/crit reduction during solo play, and so on).

Gathering crones isn't that hard with the various quests around. Just try to avoid porting/dying all day, as that surely drains your pockets. Refrain from emptying your piggy bank for the time being as well.

Don't forget to invest in some potions as well - people expect healers to keep them alive 24/7, but that's just not reasonable. I always foresee in HP potions during partyplay as it gives some slack on the healer and can possibly save the whole party by avoiding a death and having a domino-effect going on.

Yes, lvls 20-27 and 41-50 are pretty harsh to go through, but it's doable and it gets better at 50 till at least 60.
