Isn't that whole point of an MMORPG though? To give people a release from their ordinary boring lives? PWi knows very well what motivates the average MMORPG player and capitalizes on it. When they go a little to far - some of the less tolerant depart and leave the more tolerant ones that they can exploit.

This is the commercial MMO Free-To-Play business model and it serves those that implement it well.

I'd say the whole point of a game is having fun.

But that's not what Rohan provides. Rates in rohan are just so bad that it proves it's intended to capitalize on player's ego and frustration, instead of giving people a release of their ordinary boring lives. "Repeat it until you success". Almost everyone I met in rohan came playing this game with the goal to be "the best" or joining "the best side" instead of enjoying the game. Most of the players here have serious ego and self-insecurities issues. Sadly there's nothing about being the best or being "pro" in rohan, it's all about numbers and the ability of throwing money in that game. (because at some point you'll have almost everything)

plus/minus the ability to communicate with other players, and the ability to team-up. But that only works if you 1) have numbers with you 2) enough players that are able to throw money in this game. 3) enough lack of self-esteem to wake up at 3am because your client dc'ed and you gotta relog it to level/got rulerfight or some event like PA or TSB.
