Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime - Antivirus Problem (Possible Solution)

GM, my friend can't log after the maintenance. The anti virus is deleting Rohan's folders. What do you suggest we do?

    Hello Rohanians!

If you're experiencing this issue, it's possible that your antivirus software is either deleting or blocking the Loader.exe file, resulting in its unavailability within the installation folder.
To resolve this issue, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try (in the following order):

    --Contents--
    1. Recover the Quarantined File <- SOLUTION CONFIRMED BY MOST PLAYERS
    2. Windows Exclusion List (Add R.O.H.A.N. and the loader as an exception)
    3. Reinstallation
    4. GM Notes

    1) Recover the Quarantined File
This action essentially recovers the missing file (rohanclient.exe), which will make the loader work again correctly.

    Step 1: Open Windows Security
Press the Windows key on your keyboard or click on the Start menu.
Type "Windows Security" and select Windows Security from the search results. Click to open it.

Step 2: Access Virus & Threat Protection Settings
In the Windows Security window, select Virus & Threat Protection from the left-hand menu.

    Step 3: Manage Settings
Under the "Virus & threat protection settings" section, click on Manage settings.

    Step 4: Check Quarantined Files
Look for an option like "Quarantined threats" or "Protection history" and click on it. This will show a list of identified threats.
Locate Rohanclient.exe: Scroll through the list and search for Rohanclient.exe. It might be listed as a quarantined item or a detected threat.

-> This action will recover the file from quarantine.

↓ADDITIONAL STEP: To prevent Windows Defender from flagging Rohanclient.exe in the future, FOLLOW THIS SECOND STEP↓

    2) Windows Exclusion List (Add R.O.H.A.N. and the loader as an exception)
Add an exclusion for the game's installation folder or the specific Loader.exe file within your antivirus settings. This prevents the antivirus from interfering with the game's executable files.

    Step 4: Exclusions
Scroll down to the "Exclusions" section.
Click on the Add or Remove exclusions link.

Step 5: Add the Exclusion 1: R.O.H.A.N. Folder
A file browser dialog will open. Navigate to the location where your Rohan folder is located. Typically, you should always install your folder in the "Program Files" folder on your system drive (C : Partition. (not "Program Files (x86))"
Select the folder that contains your Rohan game files (usually named "Rohan" or similar).
Click Select Folder to add it as an exclusion.

Step 6: Add the Exclusion 2: R.O.H.A.N. Loader
Repeat steps 4-6, but this time select File.
Navigate to the location where your Rohan game loader is located (e.g., RohanLoader.exe) and select the loader file.
Click Open to add it as an exclusion.

Your exclusion should look like this:

    * Adding the Exclusion solves the case for the majority of players, so please check if you can patch normally now.

    If step 1 and 2 doesn't work:

    3) Reinstallation
The last method you can try is doing a clean reinstallation with the antivirus off and with the exclusion of the folder added (you need to add it again after the reinstallation).

    4) GM Notes
If none of the methods worked previously, we ask that you leave us the following information in a template to any GM through any official channel (Ticket/Discord/Facebook/Instagram).

    (TEMPLATE)
    ---------------------------------------------
    Windows Version (10/11):
    Screenshot Error:
When the error Pops Up your Antivirus pops up a notification?:
    Antivirus Installed (Windows Defender/Other):

    * This will help us to monitor your case.

We are already working on a permanent solution for this as soon as possible,

We will have good news soon!

    Greetings Rohanians!

Good News! A small update about the previous topic:

After inquiring with the MS Security team, the game loader that was detected as a potential threat was confirmed to be a misdiagnosis. They already informed us that the fix detection of the loader of R.O.H.A.N. was already applied. We just need to update the Malware Definitions from the Windows Security to the latest version.

Here's a step-by-step guide to clear cached detections and update the malware definitions in Microsoft Defender in order to solve this permanently (you can choose the method that best suits for you):

    --Contents--
    a) 1st method: Using CMD
    b) 2nd Method: Using Microsoft Page

    1st method: CMD Method:

    1) Open Command Prompt as Administrator and locate the Windows Defender Program:
    > Type "Command Prompt" in the Windows search bar.
    > Right-click on "Command Prompt" and select "Run as administrator."

    2) Once the Command Prompt opens, go to the Windows Defender Folder.
    > You can do this -> typing: cd C:\Program Files\Windows Defender and press Enter.

    3) Remove Cached Definitions:
    >In the Command Prompt, type: MpCmdRun.exe -removedefinitions -dynamicsignatures and press Enter. This command will clear the cached malware definitions.

    >After removing the definitions, enter: MpCmdRun.exe -SignatureUpdate and press Enter. This command will initiate an update to fetch the latest malware definitions.

    * This process will take between 10-20 seconds.

    2nd method: Microsoft Page Method:

Visit the Microsoft Defender website using the following link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/wdsi/defenderupdates

Simply launch the file to manually install the latest security intelligence.

Both methods provide an alternative to obtain and update the latest malware definitions directly from the source.

    Best regards,
