No, the protests are because they absolutely HATE Trump as a person and see him unfit to be a president. I would bet that if the republicans had a candidate that did not come over as a totally juvenile asshat, there would have been no protests at all.
Well, of those that bothered to vote at all, the majority voted for the republicans and took the devil along with it as long as their party was on top. So for better or worse Donald Trump is the U.S. president.
