My B'day was eventful to say the least.
Day started well, went out with friends then got info that there was a huge fire in my area and that it was moving rapidly and jumping all over the place. Got a text from DFES saying we had to evac. Came home, started to panic, called my mum to pick me up as I don't drive. She got stuck in traffic and couldn't come get me as all the roads were being blocked. More panic set in. Got 3rd text from DFES saying had to leave the area immediately or stay and defend my home. Managed to get a ride with a friend in the area. Couldn't take anything with me as there was no room. Thought I was gonna lose my house and all my stuff if the fire got any closer. Managed to get out of the suburb through all the chaos and spent the following few hours stressing that I could lose everything I own.
But luckily the fire was brought under control some hours later.
Prolly one of the most scariest days of my life. I could see all of the smoke from my back yard and the water bombers and the helicopters all flying through the huge smoke plumes. It looked like a war zone. Crazy stuff.
Another fire (or spot fires) were happening today, again in my area. Got text saying we could have to evac again, it was another nervous wait to see what would happen. But that got under control faster then the fires on the 21st.
