A melee weapon is better when you want to pvp support (less chance to wake people up like there is with the super slow staff attack speed).

Again I repeat, in Rohan the Staff is "wrong balanced, must request a balance, balance in all weapons
Is an aberration asking a magician used a dagger to attack, please do not be foolish.
The archer uses bow and magician uses staff
The staff should be very powerful for a magician, not for a ranger, and to achieve:
* replace a dagger in battle,
* be much stronger than a mace + shield for a magician
* have great damage against warriors and archers

This is a Staff, the ideal weapon for magicians
so do not come with words so foolish as to say that a staff is the worst weapon and the dagger is the best because it really sound too silly. (best for a murderer)

The weapon should not decide which class or race serve

Just because daggers are the best for dark elves doesnt mean they are the best for other classes its what the class does if you dont understand what every class does you wont understand why it doesnt matter what weapon you use on mages.
