Also good choice considering the intel ****storm

Got my mem a couple years back when it was about half the cost. It is intel-specific, but works at full speed on my AMD setup more reliably than it ever did on my older i7 system.
Yeah that Meltdown and Specter is a real cluster****. Thankfully:

Intel is being smacked over Meltdown - which does not affect AMD processors.
There are 2 variants of Spectre. All CPUs except for some pre-(original)pentium chips are affected by these.
One can be fixed with a bios update, the other can't be fixed without a microprocessor redesign (which ain't gonna happen). Che chances of either ever actually being exploited are extremely slim since the attack has to come from the same process space/privilege level as the process it is running in. The specter bios fix has little to no effect on processor performance. The other specter variant has the potential to have a VERY large effect on performance since it is very tightly tied to speculative execution which is used all over the place when there are long pipelines of instructions+data to be executed.
As for how far anybody will ever get with class action suits is hard to say, but I am leaning to the "good luck with that" side of things.
