Yes you should get a stat reset from the either the quest chain or the newbie helper iirc. Also, if you try out any other races, be sure to look at the weapon mastery skill descriptions on the skill tree, there are very few classes that a str build makes sense anymore.

For example, dhan gets melee from agi, sage from int, DK from vit, etc... been this way for a while now even on the old server.
