    Too much theory in IT? My job mainly is to supervise the practical part and give review/crash course close to exam/midterm time. What are you studying now since you decided not to go into IT?

    I went for IT-accountancy in highschool, then got further with logistics management in college and followed a course in Lean management and got my IMDG certificate.

    Currently I am one of the three people to organize the agency, stevedoring, warehousing, forwarding and chartering as part of a 750 ppl company.

    Get to go on board of vessels, talk to captains and their companies to fix documents and arrange communication between them and the clients as one mustn't know about the other etc etc

    Stuff like that - still need the IT, mainly office but also ERP programs like SAP and stuff .
    Keep your friends close - your farmers closer
    Leveling slow - to give you a headstart
