So did I. And I dumped enough money into rbf game over the years to buy a brand new BMW 3-series car (At non-European prices). Most sane people would not go to that extreme, but some do and have the idea that this game is some kind of an investment (It is, but only for PlayWith). Those don't want to turn away from that perceived investment.

Most people back in 2008-2011 leveled up to 110 manually. There were a hella lot more "working" people playing back then and they were actually making it to endgame. (yeah I know ... botsmall)
Grinding to endgame in origin is far from impossible for working people. And most of the end-game players in origin are working people who got their characters there manually.

Thing is, there is no race to get to end game. You get there at your own pace like any other game.
