Today, we embark on a journey into the heart of forging, guided by the experienced blacksmith, Popon 🔨.
Let him be your companion as he unveils the secrets of the forging system!

    1. Introduction:

    > Meet Popon: The Forging Master

Popon 🔨: Hello Rohanians! I am Popon, the master blacksmith, and today I shall unravel the magic behind forging. In R.O.H.A.N., forging is an art that empowers you to upgrade your weapons and armor. Let me show you the secrets of this ancient technique.

    > Crafted vs. Forged Items

Popon 🔨: First things first! Is crucial to understand in R.O.H.A.N., the distinction between crafted and forged items:

Crafted items can be upgraded through different tiers. Forged items, however, come in base/plain, rare, unique, and ancient levels, with each level built upon the one before. Notably, forged items don't have sockets (unless transcended), while crafted items always have sockets, whether transcended or not.

    Here's a quick summary:

    2. Weapon Forging:

The Master Forgers, possess the art of of combining two pieces of armor or two weapons to make a stronger weapon from it. As simple as that. However, the path is not without risks. Success and failure dance on a delicate balance. Should misfortune befall you, the two items you sought to meld might be lost, unless you wield the protective charm of a preservation stone. Fear not, for these skilled artisans dwell in every main town.

    > Master Weaponsmith

Popon 🔨: Master Weaponsmiths allow you to forge two weapons together to create a new one. Or, add an option item with an additional option (ranging from accuracy to defense) to produce a weapon with special abilities. When forging, adding magic items (with assorted bonus stats) to an item (with accuracy and defense) produces rare or unique weapons. For example, let's meet my friend Sithara in Etton:

※ All the Weaponsmiths will show you these options:

※ As Sithara says: "When you forge weapons, you take ‘normal‘ weapons and turn them into ‘Rare’ weapons, which then can be combined to make ‘Unique’ weapons which can be upgraded into ‘Ancient’ weapons."

    > Recipes

Popon 🔨: As an experienced forger, the real strength in forging lies not just in combining two weapons for increased attack power, but in the transfer of modifiers to the next generation. Forging two weapons with modifiers can result in a significant boost – for instance, merging +5 strength swords yields a +10 strength bonus. While acquiring weapons with modifiers takes time through quests and rare enemy drops, the results are remarkably potent. With careful forging, it's even possible to surpass the strength of a weapon 10+ levels higher.

    FOR WEAPONS

※ You can find an upgraded version of Preservation Stones (Lucky version) that will give you +50% success rate.

    FOR ARMORS AND SHIELDS

※ You will only require 2 materials to forge your armor & shield.

    > Obtaining your Materials

Popon 🔨: Ugh! After a lot of grinding in Hazy Ravine, I was able to get you the following materials:

※Note: All these base materials can be obtained in-game (farming in Celestial Zones)

    > Forging a Weapon

Popon 🔨: Always plan ahead. Be sure to not only look at your eventual item of creation but at what level the ‘normal’ items that you can buy in the shop or get from a monster catch up with this weapon or armor. Be sure that it is worth it. You will be putting time and effort into this. The rule of thumb is that lower-level weapons don’t tend to meet this requirement very often. Let's begin with the forging fiesta!:

    Rare Stage

    Unique Stage

Popon 🔨:Collect option items. They make a difference in the end. Even if it takes a while, try to find the best ones in kiosks, killing bosses and beating the stuffing out of them until they drop them. Always store any option items you find unless someone makes you a really good deal or they are entirely useless (+ Magical attack for a human) because they will come in handy later.

    Ancient Stage

Popon 🔨: Be patient. You might fail. Especially if you’re going all the way to Ancient items. Just keep at it. If this is worth it, don’t despair. You can do it!

    Final Result

Popon 🔨: Forging is complete! You just need to DLVL your armor/weapon to be able to equip them. You've earned it, Rohanian. Enjoy the satisfaction of this achievement, good job!

    4. GM Notes:

    > Tips

Tip 1: Always consider how long you are going to be using said weapon before you invest of time and resources of forging it. If you’re just going to be using it for a day or two, think about whether or not it is worth all the trouble of breaking and such.

Tip 2: Generally Forging/Refining Items can take a lot of resources. In most cases, it costs more than you intended and it’s often cheaper to just buy the items from other players than it is to make it yourself. For low-level gear, I'd say you can either buy it or make it since you don’t need preservation stones and the parts are fairly cheap. For high-level gear, I'd suggest buying it from other players rather than making it yourself. Making it depends on your luck, you could be spending a lot of resources and you’ll still have no gear. Obtaining it from others is the safer option.

    > When should I Forge?

This depends on three things. The first is how much of a difference the weapon or armor will make on you, the second is what level of forging you want to go up to and the third is how much time/resources you’re willing to spend. All three go hand in hand.

    > About Preservation Stones

    Lucky Rare Preservation Stone(50%)
    Lucky Unique Preservation Stone(50%)
    Lucky Ancient Weapon Preservation Stone(50%)
    Lucky Ancient Armor Preservation Stone(50%)

    * In the past, players could obtain lucky preservation stones from Normal & Blessed Time Jewel Boxes. However, now its obtainable from players at kiosks.

    > About Option Stones

Option items are rare drops that can be found as a Rare drop (Global). However, these items, while rare, are very good as they can be added in to a forging to increase the power of the weapon that comes out. When creating a ‘Rare’ item, you can put in one Option item and it will take on the property of that option item. Option items have things such as 5% more physical damage or things such as that. When creating a ‘Unique’ item, you have the choice of putting in two separate option items.

Can be also obtained in Fishing at Fishing Hole, Quests, Alchemist of Darkness NPCs in each town, kiosks and Item Mall!
