Better send a ticket. Plus, if this "friend" of yours is someone who lives far away (like some other country or city) and you don't know their place then I say don't lend them anything. Because chances are, they are going to trick you unlike if they are your neighbor you can just visit him in their house and beat the pulp out of him.
