Hey im just starting this game i was wondering which classes/builds are the best 1v1
Avenger or Guardian depends who gets 1st hit.
Make that Avenger, Always any day unless you're fail and don't use hide. I'm prefer playing guardian coz they have (for my preferance/playing purose) a better skillset which has CC and burst damage in combination with tankyness and an AOE AA to grind properly. Dhans are more of a hit and run type of class unless you're really well geared but even then you don't wanna be in the midle of a fight with all the AOE from temps/guards and such, you'll get shredded as soon as SA ends. Ofcourse that isn't about 1 vs. 1 anymore but ingame you'll rarely find yourself 1 on 1. 90% of the pvp is total ZERGQuote:

If Savage/Berserker had better skills/buffs maybe they would be in the front lines with Humans and Templars but as the skill patches keep on coming Templars will be moved as DPS second liner healers and Humans will stay in front lines so yeah Guard or Def you decide what is your better playing style :)
