or would you? You have been in this game/forum long enouhg to know that ALOT of people like reporting people and get them banned for fun, Problem still remains the same dude :)

It's because in the past people who duped crap, hacked, cheated and other things GOT AWAY with it. Legitly I know cases from the past that should be permabanned more than once and they were not. This was with different GM's in a different time but people don't forget this easily. Trust comes on foot but leaves on horseback, and in the past it seems like it was rather like it comes on foot and leaves by an F1 car.
From a rational point of view there is no point in banning innocent players ofcourse, only gives the GMs trouble same as not banning players who cheat and cause trouble. It has however been proven in the past that not everything is so ''rational''.
Thus the devided opinions. And then you also have the people (a la moi) that just laugh at people getting rekt.
It wasnt even 10 seconds karazy, it was maximun 5 seconds cause i was talking to my irl friend to be ready for the purchase and i told him when i uploaded exactly when. I didn't tell anyone else and i was gonna transfer it to my Main account which is this one. And on top of it was a ****ing person from Isen lol buying my transfer char within less then 5 seconds i mean wtf.
Well, that's mean for sure. I wouldn't take the risk on such a high lvl char though x.X
I wonder how he got banned. Did you report him or was the transaction monitored by GMs anyway?
They should offer a service to trade chars on own accounts - would make life easier.
when i played air rivals me and my friends got a total of 9 accounts banned - 5 mine, 4 friends. i was the main target but they banned my friends too because they allowed me access to their accounts. yes sharing accounts is considered illegal but that's not the reason they ban people. air rivals is hosted by gameforge a company in germany and when it comes to germans i only have bad things to say. if you go to their forum the GMs have "ban hammer" avatars they simply enjoy making people's lives as miserable as they can get. it's genetic i think
Ofcourse i reported him, hes from isen he cant possibly know that im putting it up on EM to transfer noone knew, most likely hes useing some program to snipe on EM cause this purchase was way to fast to be legally lol.
Ah okay. Would be kind of cool if they would track stuff like that automatically. Gz on getting your char back anyway (and the rps I hope).
I kinda thought this was the case. Snatching that character Fate though. That was nasty in the extreme and incredibly stupid of the original owner to list at 1K RPs. But as I told the folks here that even out even though shady EM transactions or sniping is not covered explicitly in the ToS, harming or interfering with other players most definitely is - not onlyu here but in the ToS of just about every MMO game out there.
@Karazy1337 - I'll send you a PM later on how folks can do automated EM sniping. It's not hard, and something you can defeat easily without some rework of your EM. I think I can come up with a few ideas on how to reduce it to a minimum - or even eliminate it.
I mean if im talking with my irl on Skype and im telling him to be ready to buy it and i said outloud that its up and this person sniped it in 1 second literally
Sure im nob for putting it up for 1,1k rps but i never had any issues until this sniper nob
Y'know, it wasn't very smart to transfer your char up for 1k rps, right? (edit --- sorry - you got that in before I finished this one) Anybody seeing a 115 +50 char up there at 1K would have jumped all pver each other to get it. Sometimes you think you are quick, but an automated sniping script can grab it faster than you switch to another browser and click your mouse/type in your EM password. I've had less valuable characters taken in less than 2 seconds of me sending it to EM (HuninHune actually got it - tho I am kinda pals with him these days).
I guess he learned the lesson :)
Tacobell 1,1k ecash cheap tacos kkkk
Dang Fate. That was pretty reckless lol.
Live n learn ><
Quite stupid at that pricing - I'd rather list it at an amount not everyone has laying around and take the cost of the EM fee for granted.
Being cheap is what you got there in the first place. Eitherhow, sniping is bad business - so is blackmailing people.
I wonder though, if I were to log in on EM just at the moment you submitted the sale - who would hesitate to buy that? Not necessarily to blackmail, but to put to own use? All I have to do is check the checkbox, autofill pw and press confirm and it's mine.
What if I buy something for 100 RPs and sell it for 1000 RPs?
1000 RPs isn't huge, but it's still a 1000% increase revenue. Would that be considered less of an offense? Is it?
Quite the grey zone there.
Blackmailing makes it less grey - but apart from that...
Also, you don't need someone else to do the trading; if you open one window in incognito mode you can log in on two accounts. Also, if your pw's are saved, all you gotta do is alt-tab f5, click for agreement, auto enter pw and press submit.
Well well i got it back no worries xD
Glad to see it. It takes a huge amount of work - and money for all the exp scrolls/hunterkits to get that +50. You must've crapped your shorts when it disappeared from EM.
It is good the GMs recognized that and did the right thing here. I will work with the GMs to see if it is possible to set something up to safely transfer a character across accounts that isn't subject to as much possible abuse.
As you can prolly tell, I am NOT a big fan of EM snipers...
Hold on here there are some problems with this statement.
1: Moving characters to another account? Why would someone do that? starts with R ends with MT just saying.
2: 10 seconds? this thing was up for a whole 10 seconds? that throws the em bot script out the window and if it was a guy transferring a character to another account it doesnt take 10 seconds to log in. In fact I can make transfers instantly because we have this thing called private browsing and browser profiles.
3: The purchaser didnt "take" anything. He purchased a char from the EM like normal people do seems to me like the system is working as intended.
4: Bot scripts on the EM dont take 10 seconds to run lets be serious here this sounds to me like a case of OP getting lucky and taking advantage of somebody doing something they shouldnt be doing.
I have transferred boss drops and characters over the EM and this guy made many mistakes. Most notably putting his 115+50 char which is worth at least 50k rps up for 1k... something that just about everyone should have.
You wana know what would make this story funny? if the 10 seconds was OP charging rps and he still managed to get the char.
These new GMs are so carebear rofl if any of the ye-olde gms were here no action would be taken srsly.
I've done that more than a few times. Comes in handy when you multi-client alt accts and need to suffle your chars across those accts. It aint all about RMT. You know as well as I do that most people that RMT do it for whole accounts.
A couple things here. Snipe bot scripts are not event driven. They are polled. And not everyone is gonna run run them with a 1 second polling interval. More like 5-10 sec polling. Which could very well make this a snipe bot.Quote:

The other thing is not everyone is as browser-savvy as you bouncing between browsers. I am also guessing that Karazy threw that '10 seconds' out there as a generalization TO MAKE A POINT. I doubt he is gonna give you the EXACT time between listing and sale. I would bet it was a lot less then 10 sec.
He did indeed. But think about it. Who in their right mind sells a 115 +50 character for 1.1k rps? Only someone trying to transfer it and beat some EM tax.Quote:

Just guessing here but I suspect Fate's owner was trying to keep from paying the 5000 rps in EM tax and thought he could do it quickly enough not to get sniped. I suppose he learned he can't.Quote:

In my country, if I try to beat tax, I'm charged twice over with an additional fee for flavor's sake - but we get the jest.

In Soviet Canada - Tax Beat You...
Depends whether the seller wanted to transfer his character to another account or not. If he did - you are a cheater, EM sniper! The poor man can barely afford 10RPs for a transfer and you TOOK his character. You stole it you nasty scammer and hacker! Guilty! To the gallows!
If however he just wanted to get rid of it, then all is good. Thank you for your purchase.
I told this **** yesterday I saw the 1111 char and resold for 35000 ecash, emila1985 always sniping EM but.... he bought the fate char legally, I bet if this **** happen to me GMs will not do any **** to help me.... $$$$$$$$ always talk
The guy grinded thousands of hours and all of a sudden after he hits +50 its time to transfer? come on
At the end of the day old man this guy took a risk by using the EM to do something it is not built to do and it didnt pan out. Instead we are punishing OP who clearly took advantage of the situation like any cut throat rohan player would.
What are you trying to say there is a hidden good samaritan rule?
Lets be serious here the issue resolved itself and didnt require any GM intervention.
1: Fate got sniped because he doesnt know how to xfer
2: OP Sold the character back to fate for 35k rps which is a slap on the wrist considering OP could have kept the char for himself.
Looks like Fate got his char back and OP got his payday reward so why do we need to ban anyone again? oh right EM snipe bot rumors like this is 2009 or something.
Sooo.. if i leave sz to go buff a friend and someone kills me, can i report the player who killed me and get them banned? Same concept...
Possible Solution:
1. Unban the "innocent player" who was accused of sniping a char
2. Remove the 35000 RPS from the "innocent player" account and give back his 1111 rps
3. Dont give the "victim player" his 35000 RPS and let this as his lesson learned the hard way
GM's tryna fix flaws on EM that THEY created, Just like you said....there is no need for a ban here, If someone is retarded enough to put is +50 char up on em for 1000 rp this should be a lesson well learned for him, Situations like this is probly the ONLY time gms wanna act like the " good guys " and be " caring " about the players,
but when it comes to upgraded weapons,
delayed balance patches,
stupid e-cash system
etc.
then the Gms are all quiet....this whole thing smells so bad, But i guess this is the only time gms can play the nice guys cause on all other aspects of this game they already stopped doing it :D
Going off of the content of about 95% of your posts, no more than you were. I can assure you.
Let me attempt to break this down into a grade school level of understanding for you.
Putting your char on EM is like leaving the SZ. You are no longer protected by game mechanics.
When you leave SZ, if you dont want to die, you protect yourself with armor, DD, weap, rings, etc... on EM you would protect your assets by setting a reasonable price.
Setting price at 1,111 is like leaving sz with no weap, no rings, and wearing only E.Fro armor. Sure, some people wont be able to kill you... but there will still be people who can.
Leaving SZ to buff someone would equate to putting it on EM for sole purpose of transferring. Since leaving to buff you would have no intention of PvP. So it would be unfair if someone attacks you, according to your logic.
But, hey, w/e. I guess bending rules and favoritism is a perk of being a GM.
So, because of the outcome of this, if I were to simply place a 115+50 char on EM for 100 RPs with the title as "Transferring accts, dont buy" and someone buys it, they would then be banned and i would get my char back?
I'd be fine with that. Will save me a few RPs next time i want to transfer beze/rulers/chars to other accts.
I was also quite surprised the GMs interfered. It's good for Syndicate for sure - BUT I do remember a lot of people losing their chars this way and they got no help at all. Time is changing rules obviously.
Well yes, I do suppose if you now put up any gear at 100 rps with the title "Transfer, don't buy" - no one can legitimately buy that without getting a ban.
This is good news, though. I have this account with plenty IM stuff on it - one of my main chars is on another account zzz
It can be abused to RMT though. Set it up for low rps, set the title to "Char transfer" or so - and only the one who payed for it will buy it.
Could end funny if the seller reports the buyer anyway. Lolz.
+1. Welcome to Rohan, Were 50% of GM's " changes " to the game and " suspension " of players is pure bs without logic or legit evidence, I wish i could be a GM aswell and ban players for ridiculous reasons.....just cause i was feeling angry and salty this morning hahah,
That we already have now, but why would they do it that way. If you RMT you do not discuss it over forums/PM's or ingame messages as those can be used against you. No, you use skype/fb or whatever and just trade over passwords.
You can still essentially report them for "they hacked me", since fb/skype does not count as proof.
If anything, both will get banned due to suspicions and you still won't get your account back. Neither as buyer or as seller.
Now, as buyer you have to work with Paypall, as you then just chargeback - amirite?
I would not know how viable it really is... but I would imagine if it were suspected of RMT, they can always check IP addresses of the account it came from and the one it had went to. If they matched, then it would be a true char transfer from one players acct to their other acct.
AFAIK, the whole of PWi's services are virtual items - chargebacks are "a thing" for sure. As for the one character/account thing.. IMHO if you RMT, you have no interest for RPs and as such, it's usually done when one quits the game altogether.
However, point taken, let's assume that's not the case and they indeed want to sell just one character ..
.. that's exactly why the above is a bad idea, and thus the 'protest' so to speak. It makes no sense and essentially just creates a backdoor for everyone wanting to either RMT and/or avoid the EM taxes. Whatever way you look at it, it's still a loss marketing wise.
Which is also a reason why bans are usually not discussed on forums and limited to tickets only.
That being said, OP still deserves a ban. Not for 'sniping' (unless otherwise proved), but for blackmailing (proved). Which, in fact, is a criminal offense.
In 2 different countries? Unless they're neighbours, of course.
Everyone in this case, understands why OP got punished and why the 'victim' received back his characters. That is not at all the issue, at least not for me.
It is only that this creates a grey zone and leaves either a backdoor or makes people feel they are treated differently, depending on how much money they spend.
