Update the software video card --> Internet Explorer should be good enough.
Stay away from the bios!
Also go into settings and turn off effects..gx glow effects ($@#*^ something like that!

Don't worry about the scroll ...they stop when your off! Internet explorer updated and all other software..
I had problem like that whole screen black and it was a setting on my vid card fx glow...I turned all rendering down!

How's the heating going? Laptops are generally not suited for gaming and vaio sony doesn't sound as if they are made for it either.
Have you dust it out yet? If you're not good with pc's and stuffs, there are some of those compressed air things specially for this - but i'm too lazy to go and buy those so i usually just screw open the back of my laptop and vacuum it out xD
As for laptop cooler, buy something that covers your whole laptop and that's made of aluminium or anything else that stays very cool and dispenses the heat easily. I got a zalman laptop cooler myself, which did more than fine. However, the older your laptop get, the faster it starts to heat up and stuff.
It's possible that you have already fried your gpu chip or anything, which in turn will make the heating up process way faster as well as giving you errors when trying to play games. Are you able to play other games, other mmo's? If so, which and at what settings?

Sounds like this graphics ic has problems overtime. Just my thought..contact sony. Its an old laptop, but that no reason for it to fail on games like this..Looks like your at min. requirements and the laptop just about to go under.
Not sure if it worked, But in the past 2hours I didn't get crashed (Hope i don't jinx it.) But What I did was, I searched and stuff, And i found out that maybe after the format, The people at the store didn't install a proper plugin, So I just went and Installed DirectX. And so far, in the past 2hours, It didn't crash (used to crash every 2~5mins).
Just wanted to post this update, For other people that might have the problem. This could solve it/Be the issue.
