In-game Display not working right - Montt's Palace

Hi,

I'm very new to this game, so excuse it :) (lvl 10...)

Visiting Montt's Royal Palace, I can't see any character/objects.
You can see in the attached file (sorry, screenshot doesn't seem to work properly either).

I thought it was a file problem, so I d/l again the archive from a different mirror, but same problem occured.

I'm running on XP SP2, Pentium dualcore x2.8GHz, 2 GB RAM, video card ATI Radeon 5670 series 512 MB, 8.821.0.0 drivers (1/26/2011 update). Couldn't find any newer driver to update.
DirectX 9.0c.

So could you help me please? anything else seems to be running ok...

2. How can I hide the chat window on the left? (or rather close it)

LOL wow this bug is still here?
Before you go into the portal wait for about 10 seconds until you can see the castle in the background. If that doesn't work turn your char around so it isn't facing the portal and wait for a little longer, then turn around again and the castle should have loaded and you can go through the portal.
I remember getting stuck in there with no portal stones.

Edit: If none of that works, relog whilst standing in front of the portal.

its a bug older than my acount even.
simple fix: port back to montt, go to the portal and WAIT till the palace loads, NEVER enter before you actually see it floating there. problem solved.
